Horntye Park Sports Complex
Significant increases in energy prices forced Horntye Park Sports Complex, to consider ways in which it could reduce its power bills.
Following an audit by the Carbon Trust, various initiatives were discussed and the sports complex agreed a package of measures including low energy lamps and passive infra-red switches.
However, by far the biggest saving was achieved by installing Voltis onto the park’s floodlights, which serve a number of all-weather sports pitches and were the site’s biggest energy user.
“The Voltis system immediately reduced the electricity used by our 24 floodlight lamps by 17%,” said complex general manager Kevin Miller. “We conducted power usage calculations prior to, and after, the installation and were very pleased with the result. Across the board, taking into account the other energy savings measures implemented at Horntye Park, we have reduced energy usage by almost 25%, of which 17% was delivered by Voltis.”
The sports complex took advantage of a Carbon Trust two-year interest free loan to help fund the Voltis installation.
Mr Miller is delighted with the results delivered by Voltis: “I would recommend it and have recommended it several times,” he said. “We are delighted with the system and saw savings immediately.”
