| Magpeye Opto & Ferro
Magpeye is an intelligent meter reader that can be attached to the front of an existing gas or water meter. There are two types of Magpeye - the style of your meter will determine which model you will need.
1. Magpeye Opto
The MAGPEYE opto unit recognises the rotation of a red test dial needle common on many traditional types of gas meters to provide a pulse output. Similar red needles are fitted to the register of some types of water meters.
2. Magpeye Ferro
The MAGPEYE Ferro unit recognises the rotation of the magnet moulded into the extreme right hand numerical disk of most modern diaphragm gas meters to provide a pulse output.
Magpeye Opto
Magpeye Opto uses a specially designed pulsed laser colour detector head which recognises the presence of a red needle of gas and water meters.
This information is fed to the Magpeye control base which houses the control electronics, battery, pulse indicator and volt free contact output lead.
• The battery is a 4V non-rechargeable unit, designed to provide up to 10 years uninterrupted service.
• The output lead offers a solid state bounce and volt free contact closure suitable for direct connection to BMS digital inputs at out stations or to pulse inputs at data loggers.
• Magpeye Opto can be retorfitted to gas meters, in particuar U6, U16 and U40 types.
• Magpeye Opto units conform to the ATEX Product Directive 94/9/EC for Zone 2 operation.

Magpeye Ferro
Magpeye Ferro sences a specially designed and moulded magnet mounted within the right hand numerical disc of most modern diaphragm gas meters.
